The 4-epimerization and decarboxylation of uridine diphosphate D-glucuronic acid by extracts from Phaseolus aureus seedlings.

چکیده
It has been previously demonstrated (1) that particulate preparations from Phase&s uureus (mung bean) seedlings are capable of catalyzing the formation of uridine diphosphate-ngalacturonic acid1 and a mixture of UDP-n-xylose and UDP-Larabinose from UDP-n-glucuronic acid. The results indicated that the preparations contained UDP-uranic acid 4-epimerase and UDP-uranic acid decarboxylase activities. However, the individual reactions involved were not investigated. The work reported in this paper shows that three enzyme systems are operative in the conversions: a UDP-n-galacturonic acid-4-epimerase, a UDP-n-glucuronic acid decarboxylase, and a UDP-L-arabinose-4-epimerase. The enzyme systems catalyzing these reactions have been partially separated and the equilibrium constants have been determined for the two epimerization reactions.

متن کاملIsolation of uridine diphosphate N-acetylglucosamine and uridine diphosphate glucuronic acid from mung bean seedlings.
It has been shown previously (1) that mung bean seedlings (Phaseolus aureus) contain uridine diphosphate derivatives of n-glucose, n-galactose, n-xylose, and L-arabinose. These seedlings, as well as a number of other higher plants, also contain enzymatic systems capable of catalyzing the reversible formation of sugar nucleotides from UTPI and various monosaccharide l-phosphates (2, 3) according...
متن کاملSolubilization of a mannose-polymerizing enzyme from Phaseolus aureus.
A soluble enzyme preparation, which catalyses the polymerization of mannose, was obtained by Triton X-100 extraction of a particulate fraction derived from Phaseolus aureus hypocotyls. The product that resulted when GDP-alpha-d-mannose was used as a substrate was a beta-(1-->4)-linked mannan, about three-quarters of which was alkali-insoluble. The mannose-polymerizing enzyme activity was at lea...
متن کاملPathway of Uridine Diphosphate N-Acetyl-d-Glucosamine Biosynthesis in Phaseolus aureus.
Studies with extracts obtained from mung beans (Phaseolus aureus) showed that UDP-N-acetyl d-glucosamine is formed from d-fructose 6-phosphate by a series of the following enzymic reactions: [Formula: see text]UDP-N-acetyl-d-glucosamine inhibits the first reaction in the multistep pathway leading to its biosynthesis.
